Clean Cocktails at the Dirty Laundry Pop up in Soho

By Jenny Mc Farlane · On July 6, 2015

Dirty Laundry Soho Review

With Campari cocktails freshly spun in washing machines and a retro ’50s vibe, the Dirty Laundry week-long pop up was the perfect end to the working week.

The 1950s Vibe

On arrival, I was greeted to a relaxed atmosphere with barmen wearing ’50s style costumes and Grease-esque tunes blasting from the resident DJ’s washing machine decks.

The Spin Cycle Cocktails

In converted Whirlpool machines, specially-designed Campari concoctions and classic cocktails like Aperol Spritz and Negroni were mixed to order. Needless to say we went straight to the bar.

Watching the whole process was quite the sight especially since the drinks were mesmerizingly mixed in a spin cycle and then poured out of taps fixed to the fronts of the machines.

The Details

Our drinks were so tasty we went back for seconds (and thirds), while alcoholic jelly “liqui-tabs”, spray bottle vodka shots sprayed straight down your throat and refreshing Menabrea beers were also perfectly chilled. On the non-liquid sustenance front, Italian bar snacks and delicious traditional pizzas made by Obica were all up for grabs.

Downstairs, we discovered a Polaroid photo booth equipped with plenty of retro props and witty signs to pose with. There was also the opportunity to “air our dirty laundry” in the pop-up laundrette by writing down a confession on a pair of pants. Needless to say, I paid the fiver and got myself a pair with something questionable emblazoned on them.

The Verdict

Fun, retro and full of quirk - this bar ticked all the Friday night-out boxes. It was such an experience, I hope it’ll pop up again soon somewhere in London as I’m already having washing machine cocktail withdrawals.
